A hotel in Paris 10 close to tourist attractions

Located between the le Canal Saint-Martin and the “very beautiful and very useless Porte Saint-Denis”, as the initiator of Surrealism André Breton wrote in “Nadja” that he didn't spend three days without seeing it, on the Boulevard de Bonne-Nouvelle, a stone's throw from the Boulevard de Strasbourg, our Paris 10 hotel is in the lively heart of Paris.
From this doorway, you can quickly reach the Sentier or Marais districts in the historic center of Paris. A few minutes' walk is all it takes, and the leisurely stroller will soon be walking to the church of Saint-Eustache, Châtelet, or the nearby Centre Pompidou.

If he prefers to push on towards the Seine, he'll soon be under the arches of the Palais du Louvre or the arcades of the Rue de Rivoli. From there, you can either cross the Seine via the Pont-Neuf or the Pont des Arts, heading for the Île de la Cité and Notre-Dame Cathedral or the Latin Quarter towards la Sorbonne, or continue along the right bank of the Seine towards the Jardin des Tuileries and Place de la Concorde.
Whichever way you turn, when you leave the 9Hotel République, the possibilities for sightseeing, strolling and discovery are endless. To the east, the Canal Saint-Martin forms part of the route to the Belleville and Ménilmontant districts, small hills from the top of which Paris appears quite different from the vertical city seen from the central boulevards. To the north of Belleville lies the Parc des Buttes-Chaumont, and to the south, the famous and beautiful Père-Lachaise Cemetery.
To the west, just outside our hotel in Paris' tenth arrondissement, you'll find the Musée Grévin and the l’Opéra Garnier.

A hotel near the Place de la République

For those who don't want to travel so far to enjoy Paris' 10th arrondissement, the Place de la République is very close to the hotel. One of the largest and most famous squares in Paris, it is now entirely pedestrianized, and many Parisians gather here for concerts, events and festive and popular gatherings.
The Monument à la République has been enthroned at the center of the square since it took on its present name in the late 19th century, and, recognizable from afar, it is an emblematic rallying point in Paris.
Whether it's for the Paris Carnival in the 19th century, running races, political, trade union or cultural events, or more recently, the Place de la République in the tenth arrondissement is a regular meeting place.
So, in the aftermath of the November 13, 2015 attacks that plunged France into mourning, particularly in the eastern districts of Paris, not far from the Place de la République, this is where the French came to mourn and oppose the terrorist attacks.

A hotel in Paris 10 near the Parisian theaters

The area around 9Hotel République is still home to Parisian theaters, of which there are many on the grands boulevards. These boulevards, which were built on the site of the old Parisian ramparts, have been home to numerous theaters around the Porte Saint-Martin since the 18th century. A place for strolling, it has given a certain light, comic theater full of twists and turns its nickname. The term “boulevard” is often used to describe the comedies of manners that have been delighting audiences for centuries.
The Grands Boulevards, in Paris's 10th arrondissement, are also home to famous movie theaters such as the Grand Rex, a stone's throw from the Théâtre Bonne-Nouvelle. A little further on, past the famous Musée Grévin, begins Boulevard Haussmann, which leads to the Grand Magasins, Printemps and Galeries Lafayette, sumptuous Art Nouveau buildings whose illuminated and decorated windows are a must-see at Christmas, for the spectacle they project, delighting young and old alike.

Paris X, a lively district of the capital

In addition to cultural activities, the streets of Paris' tenth arrondissement are alive with friendly neighborhood life. Via rue du Château d'Eau, in the direction of the 10th arrondissement town hall, Le Comptoir du Marché is a very pleasant place to dine or have a drink. Located right next to the Marché Saint-Martin, it stocks up on fresh produce, and offers a vast terrace in fine weather.
Other bistros, such as Le Réveil du 10ème and Bistrot brune, adjoin it and liven up the street as far as the Town Hall, after which the lively Château d'Eau district can be surprisingly diverse, bringing plenty of life to the streets.
A little higher up is the Saint-Quentin covered market, at the top of boulevard Magenta, a stone's throw from Gare de l'Est, where you'll find delicious fish and seafood, such as at Le canot vendéen fishmonger's or Poissonnerie du petit bateau. This large green cast-iron, glass and pink-brick market hall is a lively Parisian landmark, visited by local residents every day except Monday, when it's closed, but especially at weekends, on Saturday and Sunday mornings. Not far from Marché Saint-Quentin and Gare de l'Est, on the way back to our 9Hotel République, you'll find the magnificent Saint-Laurent church, listed as a historic monument. Its earliest foundations date back to the 5th century, and it was mentioned by the famous historian and bishop Grégoire de Tours. Rebuilt in the 15th century in the flamboyant Gothic style, it's well worth a visit.
